The third Kenneth Branagh-directed adaptation of Agatha Christie's beloved murder mystery books makes major changes. A Haunting in Venice takes the 1969 novel Hallowe'en Party and trades murder at an English country house for one in a Venetian Palazzo instead.
abc.net.au/news/a-haunting-in-venice-is-spookier-than-agatha-christies-novel/102841946The third Kenneth Branagh-directed adaptation of Agatha Christie's beloved murder mystery books, featuring detective Hercule Poirot, makes major changes.
"We wanted to take advantage and use the inherent spookiness and the magic and lustre of Venice, to make an unimaginably terrifying Halloween night."The film is still a double mystery, but it changes a fair chunk of the original tale. "At the beginning of the story, Poirot is retired again, and the story is bringing him back and giving him a zest for life, and I think that is quite an important passage of the story."The film has a Cluedo-ish feel, and the script is deliberately specific with each part of the story unfolding in a different room.
Prichard is also currently the CEO and chairman of the company that manages Christie's literary and media rights.
