The bag was so beautiful it stopped me scrolling. Turquoise, plump and velvet, the small Gucci Marmont ticked all my boxes: it was luxe, it was a shade of blue and it was big enough to hold my phone, AirPods, keys and lip balm. I had to have it.
The Gucci Marmont is my second designer bag and the first I’ve purchased pre-used. Yet, before this year, buying second-hand hadn’t really occurred to me. Colour also matters. While limited edition patterns and bright hues may seem more valuable, to Luxe.It.Fwd’s average consumer, black is the shade of choice. Prices also range anywhere from $500 to $27,000 with the average spend about $1100.
