The New South Wales government has launched a public awareness campaign to help victims of racially-fuelled threats and abuse understand their legal rights.

. It found more than 60 per cent of the victims were female, and the majority of the respondents didn’t report the incident to the police.

"I have heard many stories from friends so I think it is good to let people know there is something they can do about it. “I’ve been called a cockroach, the 'f word', I’ve been told to get back to my country … so, yeah, nothing new," she said.
