Leukaemia Foundation CEO Chris Tanti says there must be more “financial support” provided for cancer patients as people often have to sell assets to pay for treatment and transport, especially in regional Australia.
“There is a real crisis in regional, rural Australia when it comes to treatment for blood cancers,” Mr Tanti told Sky News Australia.
“There is a 13 per cent survival disparity between those who are living in rural and regional Australia, and those who are living in metropolitan areas.”
