The Democrat-led US House of Representatives has approved a $US430 billion bill that is seen as the biggest climate package in the country's history, delivering a major legislative victory for President Joe Biden ahead of the November 8 midterm elections.

It will also allow the US Medicare program to negotiate lower drug prices for the elderly and ensure corporations and the wealthy pay the taxes they owe.The House voted 220-207 along party lines to pass the measure, titled the "Inflation Reduction Act". It will now be sent to Mr Biden for him to sign into law.President Joe Biden described the bill as "historic legislation" and will sign it in the coming week.
