Brad Ausmus won’t return as manager Mark Kotsay’s right hand man next season, the New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported Monday night. In declining to come back for a second season on the A’s bench, the 53-year-old Ausmus is said to be pursuing an MLB front office position somewhere. Brad Ausmus turned down an offer to return as A’s bench coach. The former Tigers and Angels manager, a Dartmouth man, will look to get back into baseball ops now.Ausmus, who was the only A’s coach on Kotsay’s staff who managed in the big leagues, has previously worked in baseball operations for the Angels and Padres. The former Tigers and Angels skipper sat alongside the rookie manager Kotsay while the A’s went an American League-worst 60-102 last season.
