Reliever Lou Trivino gave up the go-ahead run in the bottom of the seventh.
A’s starter Cole Irvin pitched into the sixth inning at Truist Park and took a no-decision as the left-hander gave up a pair of home runs to Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr.
After the first three A’s hitters –Tony Kemp, Elvis Andrus and Laureano, reached against Wright with singles, Oakland recorded only two hits the rest of the way. The A’s lost six straight games to close out their 10-game homestand at the Coliseum and their seven-game losing streak is the team’s second longest of the season. Oakland lost nine straight games from April 29-May 8.
If Oakland’s fortunes change Wednesday, rookie left-hander Jared Koenig will have a hand in helping the A’s. The Aptos, Calif. product will make his MLB debut against the Braves after posting a 2.21 ERA in 53 innings at Triple-A Las Vegas. Koenig, 28, was pitching for the San Rafael Pacifics as recently as 2018 in independent ball and spent part of 2019 with the Auckland Tuatara of the Australian Baseball League.
