On this week’s episode of GoodWeekendMag Talks, we meet a socialite whose life was changed by an overseas trip.

podcast – ahead of Hornery’s cover story about Rodriguez being published in the magazine this Saturday – Rodriguez credits her son, Constantine, with helping her develop the right mindset to cope with her ordeal.

“I remember him being in hospital when I woke up, uncertain. And he said, ‘Mum, life is 10 per cent what you’re given and 90 per cent what you do with it. It’s up to you now,’” Rodriguez recalls on the podcast. “Coming from a 13-year-old at the time, this voice of wisdom kind of set things into perspective as to how I chose to show up in my life.”

It isn’t always easy: “Now, do I have bad days so I get frustrated? You know, looking down I’m seeing hardware sticking out of my limbs and I had beautiful feet before – they were quite nice.” There are upsides to her new feet, however. “They don’t have a callus. They don’t have a blister. There are no bunions. I’ll actually have perfect feet and will have perfect feet until I die.”She hopes in telling her story that she inspires others coping with adversity.
