Australians from all walks of life reflect on the life of singer-songwriter Archie Roach, his work towards reconciliation, the legacy he left behind and the work still left to do.
Born in Mooroopna, in Victoria, Archie was just three years old when he was forcibly removed from his family.
"He took the words that we could not speak and he turned them into song so that our voices could be heard," he said. "I don't think we'll see his like again and I can only hope that we will never forget that we were lucky enough to be graced by his presence," he said.Writer and broadcaster Daniel James interviewed Archie numerous times and described the singer as a "powerful but humble presence".James said Archie was integral in starting a conversation around truth-telling in Australia.
