A woman in her 50s has died with COVID-19 in Canberra Hospital as the ACT records 1,601 new cases — 878 from PCR tests and 723 from rapid antigen tests.There are currently 52 people in hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19
There are now 52 people are in hospital as a result of COVID-19 in Canberra — the highest number of the pandemic.More than 30 per cent of Canberrans aged 18 and older have now received their booster and 26.8 per cent of children aged five to 11 have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.Booster vaccines have been prioritised for teachers and early childhood educators.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr said the aim was to further protect staff and students from the virus ahead of the beginning of term 1. It is hoped the fast-tracking of boosters for staff will also better protect those who are as yet still too young to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
