Starting Monday, experienced investigative journalist and Emmy Award-winner Aaron Wright will join Monique Ming Laven as the new evening anchor for KIRO 7 newscasts airing 5-6:30 p.m. and 11-11:30 p.m.
Bringing years of experience and dedication as an investigative journalist, Wright has a unique and diverse perspective for covering issues and stories that go in-depth and matter to local residents.
“We had an extensive nationwide search for this position. It was important we found the right person. Aaron believes in the power of community, the responsibility of making sure people’s voices are heard and the importance of earning viewer trust. No doubt he will fit right in with the values and mission of the KIRO 7 newsroom,” Tara Finestone, KIRO 7′s news director, stated.
He later moved onto Knoxville, Tennessee, working as an anchor and reporter for WBIR-TV, where he made connections with the community, covering stories from historic wildfires to the Nashville Predators Stanley Cup appearance. His dependability to tell balanced and focused stories continued to grow, helping him to move across the country to San Antonio, Texas, where he worked as an investigative reporter and main anchor for KENS-TV, taking the helm of the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts.
