HOUSTON, Texas -- March is Women's History Month, and ABC13 is talking about ways women can break barriers and break into non-traditional occupations.
Currently, Construction Career Collaborative said in the Houston area, only 11% of construction jobs are filled by women. On Thursday, the agency hosted a"She Builds Houston" event at Alief ISD, where around a thousand female students got a hands-on lesson on construction. Construction Career Collaborative executive director, Angela Robbins-Taylor explained if you're interested in construction, select a portion of it that interests you. There are community college programs to learn skills, but it may not be necessary.
