The NSW government is looking at banning anyone who is violent or abusive towards umpires or volunteers from all sporting venues in the state after a referee was bashed by a spectator last month.

Violent or abusive behaviour could result in lifetime bans from all sporting venues and clubs may face sanctions for allowing suspended fans to participate as part of the discussed changes.

“We are looking forward to working with sport organisations on how we can ensure that this behaviour is stamped out of our grassroots sporting communities. A campaign to raise awareness about respectful behaviour towards those helping out at sporting events and community activities will also be included.by amateur boxer Adam Abdallah, 25, who rushed onto the field during a soccer game last month.The father-of-four told Sky News Australia the doctors had informed him he may lose the feeling in his lips forever.
