A $165 million Perth freeway project that is already running late has been further disrupted by the collapse of construction group Clough, with workers taken off the Stephenson Avenue extension after control was handed to infrastructure group Acciona.

Acciona has posted an advertisement online for engineers, surveyors, administrators and finance managers citing “Stephenson Avenue project opportunities”.Clough’s administrators, Deloitte, said they had been working constructively with Main Roads WA and Acciona to develop a project handover agreement that would have included Clough employees transferring to Acciona and for work to continue on the project with minimal to no disruption.

“Clough remains open to a potential secondment of those people to the project to minimise disruption to the project going forward.”Acciona said it expected to expand its local workforce as it assumed sole responsibility for project, but it would try to retain the almost two dozen Clough employees who had been working on the project.
