. These new Helios laptops have impressive specs that I’ll dig into below, but I’m most looking forward to trying out one thing in particular: their top-of-the-line 250Hz Mini LED display option.
Either size of the new Helios can be configured with this display, which Acer claims has 1,000 local dimming zones and can supply over 1,000 nits at peak brightness. It has 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which is great for creators who require accurate colors. The Helios 16 and 18 feature two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a charging port and an HDMI 2.1 port on the rear, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports on the right, and an Ethernet port, a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader on the left.Outside of the screens, these seem like solid contenders filled with 2023’s latest chip bumps, including Intel’s 13th Generation Core i9 or i7 HX processors. Both models support up to the RTX 4080 graphics chip with 165W of total graphics power.
