ACT Policing has issued a warning to the community after two people died yesterday from suspected drug overdoses.

They've issued a warning to the public to be aware of the risks of drug use as they examine what caused the deaths. ACT police have issued a health alert after two fatal drug overdose s in Canberra in the space of 24 hours.It has not been revealed what drugs were used, or whether the two overdoses were linked.The incidents have prompted police to issue a public health warning, urging drug users to be as safe as possible.

Executive director of the Canberra Alliance for Harm Minimisation Chris Gough said although the drugs involved in these deaths were not yet known, there had been a recent uptick in dangerous substances being detected."Unfortunately, we don't have any details about these deaths at the moment, and police are still investigating, but what we do know is that there have been a couple of detections of nitazenes in the last couple of months in Canberra.
