‘Action needs to be now’: Dutton campaigns against Voice in Alice Springs

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has criticised the Albanese government for not addressing “the urgency of what is happening” in Alice Springs, saying the Voice to Parliament will take too long and “action needs to be now”.

“It needs to be addressed now – even if the Voice vote takes place in October, the Prime Minister is proposing six months of consultation after the vote takes place, so out to the middle of next year, before they’ll even have a design of what the Voice looks like,” Mr Dutton said during a media conference on Wednesday.

“If you aren’t out there and you aren’t listening to what people are saying, then it’s very hard to find the solutions.”
