John Singleton has sold his former head office in Sydney’s trendy Paddington to Annie Todd, the estranged wife of Mike Cannon-Brookes, the billionaire co-founder of tech giant Atlassian.

Businessman and advertising legend

The former couple also own the 1.1-hectare Fairwater estate, in Double Bay – the home of the late Lady Mary Fairfax – which they bought in 2018 for $100 million, plus a $50 million portfolio of rural assets in the NSW Southern Highlands. Vaughan said the building covers 1452 square metres and has three access points: vehicular access via Victoria Place and pedestrian access from Victoria and Underwood streets.Previous tenants include Microsoft, Ninemsn, Seven, Mojo Advertising and Documentary Australia.

“I once had a call from my accountant who said he’s had an offer from one of these tech blokes, an American, about Bonython. This guy wanted to do it all, increase the value and pay the rent at the improved market value. No one was that silly, I said. That was Bill Gates, and this became their Australian head office for Microsoft.”, which has meant a fall in average vacancy rates in the past year.
