The mayor acknowledged that the move may not be possible if it flouts legal protocols governing the use of his official residence Gracie Mansion.
NEW YORK — Gracie Mansion could become the next shelter for asylum-seeking migrants, if Mayor Eric Adams has his way.
But his comments reflect how Adams continues to raise the alarm about the city’s ability to house tens of thousands of migrants who have arrived in the five boroughs since last spring. Tuesday night a fake letter circulated on social media purporting to be an official fire department correspondence alerting firehouses that they would have to take in asylum-seekers. The FDNY put out a statement warning that the communication was not authentic.
