Mayor Eric Adams marked the end of National Volunteer Month last week by honoring volunteers through the “2022 Mayoral Service Recognition Program: Building Together for Tomorrow.”
At a virtual ceremony organized by NYC Service on, Mayor Adams recognized volunteer and civic engagement efforts led by community-based organizations, businesses, and residents that have uplifted communities and fueled the city’s recovery.
“New York City overcame the darkest days of the pandemic because of the selfless work of everyday volunteers,” said Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives Sheena Wright. “When COVID-19 tried to tear us apart, volunteers kept us and our city together. Thank you to the brave volunteers who answered the call for the betterment of our city.”
