Two employees were injured during a violent robbery at a bottle shop in Adelaide, highlighting the increasing problem of 'grab and go' thefts targeting the retail liquor industry. The incident involves two men attempting to steal a four-pack of vodka cruisers, escalating to violence when a staff member intervened. The assailants used a stolen bottle and scissors as weapons, leaving one employee with head injuries and another needing knee surgery.

A violent robbery at a bottle shop in Adelaide has left two employees injured, raising concerns about the growing trend of 'grab and go' thefts plaguing the retail liquor industry. The brazen incident occurred in broad daylight when two men entered the Thirsty Camel bottle shop on Anzac Highway, attempting to steal a four-pack of vodka cruisers. As a staff member intervened, a third person, a teenager, joined the fray and punched the worker in the head.

The assailants allegedly escalated the attack by using one of the stolen bottles as a weapon against the employee and brandishing a pair of scissors. The violence resulted in one staff member sustaining head injuries while another required surgery for a dislocated knee. The incident has ignited widespread outrage and concern within the retail industry. Despite repeated warnings to workers and customers against intervening in such situations, attacks of this nature continue to occur with alarming frequency. 'We know that 80 percent of our members have reported to us in the last 12 months that they've been assaulted or abused in the last 12 months,' stated Josh Peak from the Shop Workers' Union. This particular store has been targeted by this group before, underscoring the difficulty in deterring repeat offenders even with recently enacted laws aimed at imposing stricter penalties. Police are actively pursuing the offenders, who could face a maximum sentence of seven years in prison if apprehended and brought to court
