An Adelaide family who lost their home in a fire fear the rental crisis will mean they will remain homeless for months. Their home in Aberfoyle Park went up in flames on Tuesday evening, destroying the rental in minutes. Fire investigators said the blaze was sparked by a faulty extension cord. Mother Alicia Harris said her children and partner have been separated, staying with relatives and friends until they find a permanent home.

Loved ones launched an online fundraiser to help support the family financially. “We don’t have anywhere to live. We have just been overwhelmed by how much the community has offered to help us, donate toys and things like that for the kids,” Harris said. Everything lost in seconds Father, Michael Sant said it was likely his children’s Nintendo Switch charger, connected to the faulty extension cord, left on a bed started the blaze.
