A 27-year-old man from Adelaide’s north has been charged with the murder of a 21-year-old man in Welland. William Holdback was found lying unresponsive on Barrpowell St, a cul-de-sac in Welland in Adelaide’s western suburbs, at 1.30am on Wednesday, April 10. Police allege Holdback met with two people in a BMW sedan in Musgrave St shortly before the fatal incident.
“The driver of the vehicle drove the BMW into Barrpowell St and collected the person who stabbed William and they left the scene.” Moments before the incident, the 21-year-old can be seen on CCTV trying to outrun his alleged attackers before he trips. Video footage captured Holdback’s chilling cries for help before a group of musicians rehearsing nearby rushed to help him. Police charged a 27-year-old man with murder at his home in Adelaide’s north on Saturday.
