Prime Minister Scott Morrison has revealed that more ADF personal will be sent to Victoria to bolster under pressure health systems after the state issued a Code Brown on Tuesday.

Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday Mr Morrison said 20 ADF drivers would be sent to Victoria to support paramedics who had been inundated in recent weeks.

Try 14 days free now On Tuesday the Andrews government made the unprecedented decision to issue a statewide Code Brown for its health service. All metropolitan hospitals in Melbourne and six regional hospitals will be impacted by the notice from 12:00pm on Wednesday.

Acting Minister for Health James Merlino said it was the “right time” to announce a Code Brown ahead of an anticipated rise in hospitalisations. The Code Brown will allow hospitals to move staff to high priority areas such as offloading ambulance patients.
