To save Chakotay, Janeway has to travel back to the Delta Quadrant in an alternate 25th century, so she'll need one hell of a pilot - Tom Paris.
Admiral Janeway will need the skills of her Star Trek: Voyager top gun pilot Lt. Tom Paris for an upcoming rescue mission. Having known Tom since he was a kid, Janeway gave him a second chance when the USS Voyager headed out to the Badlands to investigate a missing Maquis vessel. Tom Paris' time on USS Voyager was the making of him, and despite several interpersonal conflicts, a demotion then promotion, Paris remained one of Janeway's most trusted crew members.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Star Trek: Prodigy brings the story of Janeway and Voyager full circle, as she sets out into the Delta Quadrant to investigate the loss of Captain Chakotay . It was revealed in the Prodigy season 1 finale that Chakotay and his crew are trapped in an alternate future. This sets up a brand-new voyage into the unknown for Janeway and her young crew in Prodigy season 2.
The future could be just as alien to Janeway and her crew as the Delta Quadrant was all those years earlier, so she'll need all the help she can get. Tom Paris has already appeared in animated form, in the Star Trek: Lower Decks episode "We'll Always Have Tom Paris". It's possible, therefore, that Robert Duncan MacNeill could be enticed back to play an animated version of the character in Star Trek: Prodigy.
Star Trek: Prodigy Can Reunite Voyager’s Cast Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 will see Dal R'El , Zero , Rok-Tahk , Jankom Pog , and Murf in their new roles as Starfleet Warrant Officers under the tutelage of Admiral Janeway. Rather than distract from this story, a Star Trek: Voyager reunion could enhance it. It's easy to see Dal being impressed by hotshot pilot Tom Paris, while non-corporeal Medusan Zero could learn some valuable lessons from the non-corporeal holographic Doctor .
It's even possible that Star Trek: Prodigy season 2 will introduce the brand-new USS Voyager-A, as showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman have teased a new starship for Janeway and her young charges. B'elanna Torres could be working on a vessel capable of withstanding the challenges the crew could face in the alternate 25th century.
