Adrien Brody reveals Jack Nicholson asked him and other Best Actor nominees to BOYCOTT 2003 Oscars to protest Iraq War
Brody was just 29 years old when Nicholson invited him and the other nominees - Nicolas Cage, Michael Caine and Daniel Day-Lewis to his home. Nicholson, who was nominated for his role in About Schmidt, called the meeting to address how they should respond to the United States' invasion of Iraq, which happened just days before the 75th Oscars in March 2003.
The three-time Oscar winner suggested that they all collectively boycott the awards ceremony. Brody told the group that he - the only one of the group who hadn't won an Oscar at that point - that he was going. 'I know you guys are all winners. You can sit it out. But I can’t,' Brody told the group.
