An undercover research operation targeting Victoria n rental properties has found that more affordable homes are more likely to have maintenance or minimum standards issues. The Consumer Policy Research Centre (CPRC) and Tenants Victoria conducted a mystery shop of 100 homes in Wyndham Vale and Bendigo, and discovered that while the majority of properties met Victoria 's minimum rental standards, the cheaper ones did not.

This is concerning as the Victorian government introduced minimum standards laws in 2021 to ensure that all rental properties meet basic requirements
