Buddy Franklin will soon have his hands on his prized 1000th goal ball after the Swans fan who caught the ball announced he would be returning it to the club. 7AFL 7NEWS
Sydney and the AFL launched an appeal for the fan to return the Sherrin on Saturday, hours after Franklin created history by becoming the sixth player in“To the person who caught the ball, we would love to get it back for Buddy!” the club posted in response to vision of a fan lunging over seats at the SCG to snag the ball.
Their prayers have now been answered, with the Swans fan in question posting a picture of himself holding the ball with a caption that read: “The pill is safe, folks. She’ll be back at Swans HQ soon.” Another image doing the rounds on social media shows the Sherrin with the message: “Update on the pill, she’ll be returned. Big things coming Tuesday.”The Swans fan who caught the ball shares an update on its fate.Meanwhile, AFL boss Gillon McLachlan has hailed Lance Franklin’s 1000th goal as one of the game’s greatest moments.
