Sydney superstar Isaac Heeney has been hit with a one-match ban that will rule him out of Brownlow Medal contention. Heeney collected St Kilda defender Jimmy Webster with a swinging arm late in the third quarter of Sunday’s thriller.
Heeney in hot water for high shot. Webster was stopped in tracks and immediately grabbed at his face, while Heeney took an uncontested mark. The St Kilda player had blood coming from nose, but was able to stay out on the field. The match review officer assessed the incident as intentional, high contact and low impact, which results in a one-match ban. The Swans have until Tuesday to decide if they will appeal the ban at the tribunal.
