The AFLW has been hit with a bombshell allegation Carlton defender Vaomua Laloifi was racially abused by a spectator during her 32 point loss to Essendon on Saturday.
Carlton allege targeted comments were made “directly at Laloifi from a currently unidentified individual in the crowd” during the third quarter.
Carlton CEO Brian Cook has affirmed the club is fully supportive of Laloifi who was left “deeply hurt” by the comments. The AFL Integrity Unit has begun an investigation with Carlton and Essendon vowing to participate cooperatively. “Essendon Football Club sincerely apologises to Laloifi and the Carlton Football Club for this abhorrent behaviour.”
