AFLW: Niamh Kelly has kicked a clutch late goal to lift Adelaide to a thrilling three-point AFLW win over North Melbourne.

The club hasn’t been able to lure a big-name recruit, even after losing star Joe Daniher in his high-profile move back in 2020.for stalwart recruiter Adrian Dodoro in 2023 has seen Essendon’s hopes buoyed – landing Ben McKay, Jade Gresham, Xavier Duursma and Todd Goldstein.

Add in the fact many of the top talents were already linked to AFL clubs through father-son and Academy processes, and former Bomber Matthew Lloyd labelled it the “Then-media commentator, now St Kilda coach Ross Lyon went as far to say the draft had “lost its integrity”. Cats’ premiership coach Mark Thompson – who had been part of the coaching panel at the time of the supplements saga – then took over for 2014.

The revolving coach’s door has done little to instil confidence in a club that is desperate to break through for a finals win. And there’s plenty of players playing for the futures in 2024, with the likes of Andy McGrath, Archie Perkins, Elijah Tsatas, Harry Jones, Jake Stringer, Nic Martin, Nik Cox and Sam Weideman just some of the Bombers out of contract.In comes Ben McKay to shore up the besieged backline, Todd Goldstein to replace the retired Andrew Phillips, Jade Gresham to try and add some firepower in attack and Xavier Duursma to make his mark on the wing.
