Joanne Curnow rang ABC Breakfast presenter Sammy J while stuck in a traffic snarl on her way to a kidney transplant .Joanne, from Moonambel, 200kmn north-west of Melbourne, was driving to the city for a life-changing kidney transplant when an accident brought traffic to a standstill for nearly four hours.

Joanne rang 774 ABC Radio Melbourne to report the Western Freeway traffic snarl, and Melbourne got behind her, willing her to make it to the hospital in time. Joanne had left home at 4:30am to drive to the hospital, aiming to arrive by 7am for her kidney transplant that afternoon.
