The proverbial toothpaste cannot be put back in the tube here, but moving to an exclusive network cuts apart some of the fabric that has made the Cubs franchise such a special one for decades. The identity of the Cubs has changed greatly in recent years, and not just because they finally won a World Series after 108 years three seasons ago.
This Sunday against Pittsburgh, next Wednesday against the Reds, and next Saturday against the Cardinals will be the final home games broadcast on WGN. Then during the season’s concluding road trip, WGN will broadcast the September 25 game against the Pirates and the September 27 game against the Cardinals.
