, an aptly named Book Week theme for this year’s event given that I have been spending the majority of this term spending my waking hours dreaming that it’s over.

We read the fine print of every Book Week calendar entry in the newsletter, or in forms sent home. We ensured that we ticked each box of the sometimes, very specific criteria and we embraced it as a part of our parenting duty.For half a decade it was as important as three nutritionally balanced meals, teeth brushing and establishing routines.

Yet perhaps our greatest feat was the volcano we handcrafted with a hula hoop, elastic, brown material sewn around the hoop for the base and sparkly red lava erupting from the top, to satisfy her non-fiction volcano phase.
