Several aftershocks have been felt in the US state of New Jersey after a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck on Friday morning, shaking buildings and rattling windows in major cities across the northeast.
Aftershocks have rattled the US state of New Jersey after a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck the region on Friday morning, causing buildings to shake and sway in New York and Pennsylvania.
Several other aftershocks have been felt across the region near the epicentre of the initial earthquake, which struck just before 10:30am near the town of Tewksbury, located about 80 kilometres west of New York City. Footage from Friday’s meeting of the UN Security Council showed the camera responsible for recording the session violently shaking. Speakers and journalists appeared slightly panicked as they stood up and looked around the room for the source of the commotion.
