A Dubbo aged care provider says recent federal government changes are not the reason for its closure.
The St Mary's Villa will close but not until all residents have been found new accommodation.abc.net.au/news/st-mary-ageddubbo-aged-care-facility-to-close/102591346More than 30 residents of an aged care facility in Dubbo have been told they will have to move, after their home was deemed no longer fit for purpose.
St Mary's Villa was originally a men's refuge, before being converted into an aged care facility nearly 40 years ago.The closure follows the July 1 implementation of the federal government's aged care reforms, requiring more nurses."This is about how do we provide the best care the residents and the Dubbo community," Mr McFarlane said.
The lack of amenities at the facility available during this time is one of the key reasons that the facility made the decision to close.
