Hayley Atwell has revealed her ideal AgentCarter Season 3 plot, if Marvel were to bring the show back.🤔 'Peggy's busy, she's not been waiting for [Steve] ... He lets her go off [and] fulfill her truest potential...'🙌
Marvel star Hayley Atwell shares her idea for Agent Carter season 3. Atwell has become one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most versatile actors, appearing as Peggy Carter in a variety of projects since she made her debut in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. Peggy has become a more prominent figure in the last year or so, thanks to the MCU introducing a different version of the character known as Captain Carter.
Still, when many think of Peggy, they think of ABC's short-lived series Agent Carter, which ended in 2016. Despite low viewership, the series was critically acclaimed throughout its run and followed Peggy's work in the SSR after the events of Captain America. Though the series finale wound up being a fairly satisfying ending for the show, many viewers feel there's more story to tell, especially since Agent Carter ran for only 18 episodes.Atwell recently appeared at Awesome Con 2022.
Assuming Endgame is canon? Ok, well, in my mind, Steve's tired, and he wants to sit down, and he's had quite a lot of time to gather a fantastic book of recipes because he's a fantastic cook. Peggy's busy, she's not been waiting for him. She's been busy, and she's got things to do. And the great thing is, Cap's cool with that because he's a feminist. He's not insecure about that.
Though Atwell is likely joking about Steve collecting a book of recipes, her analysis of the character's behavior in a hypothetical Agent Carter season 3 is spot on. It does seem likely Steve would seek a quiet life following his time as an Avenger, which he alludes to when he returns as an older version of himself in Avengers: Endgame.
With rumors of a live-action Captain Carter show starring Atwell, Agent Carter season 3 isn't very likely at this point, with Marvel looking to focus on the new version of the character instead. Plus, there's some confusion about whether Steve changed the original timeline or created a new one when he went back to Peggy, making another season of Agent Carter a little tricky to figure out narratively.
