THE US State Department has warned that the accelerating speed at which AI is being developed could be "catastrophic" for humanity.The report involved speaking to over 200 experts.The report says that the US government needs to move "quickly and decisively" to look into minimizing the power given to developing AI.
This comes as Peter Deng, the Head of ChatGPT, revealed he thinks we should be accelerating AI development but cautiously. "I am kind of somewhere in the middle. With any new technology there’s going to be really positive use cases but there's somethings we really need to consider," he said. "The rise of advanced AI and AGI has the potential to destabilize global security in ways reminiscent of the introduction of nuclear weapons," the new report warns.
