Australian scientists have developed an AI tool that can quickly and accurately classify skulls to assist in identifying remains. The tool outperforms human assessors in accuracy and speed, estimating biological sex with 97% accuracy compared to 82% for humans. It can also be trained on different populations to increase its accuracy.
