Perth Airport has been thrown into chaos after Qantas pilots walked off the job in Western Australia.

The pilots – who are employed by Qantas subsidiary Network Aviation – have gone on strike for 24 hours after a long-running pay dispute failed to reach a resolution this week.

The airline redeployed 737 jets for intra-WA flying and utilising aircraft from other charter operators to make up for the shortfall caused by the strike. “Negotiations on an expired enterprise agreement have been at a standstill since March, leaving most Network Aviation pilots with wages and conditions that are well below industry standards,” Mr Aikens said.
