Two major airports in Singapore have introduced new protocols to protect against mpox, an infectious disease surging in several African nations.
Two airports in Southeast Asia, regularly used by Australians as a stop over on their way to Europe, have begun screening for an infectious disease which is surging in several African countries.
“Health advisories have been put in place at air checkpoints, so that travellers will take the necessary personal precautions to avoid being infected,” the notice said. As of August 22, there have been 13 cases of mpox in Singapore, confirmed to be the generally milder clade II infections. “WHO is requesting manufacturers to submit data to ensure that the vaccines are safe, effective, of assured quality and suitable for the target populations,” the organisation wrote on August 9.
