An aeronautical group wants to create a global airship network to revolutionise freight transport. Outback Queensland has signed up to host the first Australian airship base.
)A French-Canadian aeronautical consortium is working towards launching a global airship freight network, including six Australia n bases.Colloquially known as blimps, the airships could be taking to Australia n skies as soon as 2028.A 200-metre-long piloted airship transporting freight could be flying over Australia n skies as soon as 2028, beginning in North West Queensland.
"Very much like in Europe and North America, Australia has the same type of problems when wanting to transport large cargo, like wind farm blades or high-voltage towers for transmission lines," he said.
