Akron Municipal Court is offering “Star Wars” themed weddings May 4 for local couples looking to tie the knot at the Highland Square Theatre.
The date holds significance for fans of the franchise because it is known internationally as “May the Fourth be With You,” a play on one of the film series’ iconic lines, “May the force be with you.”
Appointments are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and must be scheduled and paid for before the ceremony date. No time slots will be added once all appointments are booked. To ensure an appointment is available, contact Akron Municipal Court’s Chief Service Bailiff Patricia Williams at 330-375-2592.
Ahead of the May 4 ceremony, couples must get a marriage license from Summit County Probate Court. Then, couples will need to pay a cash-only ceremony fee at the Akron Municipal Court clerk’s office in Room 837 of the Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center, 217 S. High St. The ceremony fee is $25 for residents of the court’s jurisdiction . The fee is $40 for non-residents. After paying the fee, couples need to take their receipt to Room 901 to reserve a ceremony time.
