Kavon Jackson will be eligible for parole after serving 18 years of his sentence, according to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh, who said the sentence handed down by Summit County Judge Christine Croce was the only one allowed by state law. Jackson was 17 years old when the shooting occurred in May 2021. According to police, officers at the Metro Transit Center in downtown Akron reportedly heard gunshots just after 5 p.m. They ran outside and saw two males, one armed with a handgun, running from the area. The officers chased the two males and caught them across the street from the bus station.
Prosecutors say Jackson got into a fight with William Howell while on a bus at bus transit center. During the argument, Jackson shot Howell 10 times.
