MULTAN, Pakistán (AP) — Al menos 18 personas murieron y 13 resultaron heridas en Pakistán después de que un autobús chocara con una camioneta estacionada en la cuneta de una autopista en la provincia oriental de Punjab.
El accidente ocurrió el domingo por la mañana cerca de Pindi Bhattian, donde el autobús con destino a Islamabad golpeó una camioneta a un costado de la autopista entre Lahore e Islamabad, según el agente de policía Fahad Ahmed. La camioneta llevaba barriles de combustible, lo que provocó las llamas que envolvieron los vehículos.
Había más de 40 pasajeros en el autobús, dijo Ahmed. Las personas que fueron rescatadas habían sufrido quemaduras importantes y varios estaban en estado crítico. Otros pasajeros que escaparon por las ventanas sufrieron quemaduras leves.Los accidentes similares son habituales en las autopistas paquistaníes, donde a menudo se ignoran los estándares de seguridad y se incumplen las normas de tráfico.
