The veteran broadcaster has returned from London, months after several men accused him of using his position of power and acting inappropriately.
Alan Jones has broken his silence after being accused of multiple accounts of indecent assault, saying he will take an extended break from hosting his right wing online show to get better from “urgent health issues”.detailing allegations by five men that Jones used his position of power to indecently assault them, groping them, or inappropriately touching them without consent.
“Let me say though, that I have suffered no mental ageing, but I am living with two choices: constant pain where painkillers become totally ineffective, or powerful medication with side effects.” He said he had been prescribed opioids, including liquid morphine. “I hope I am far from the end of life, but I have been advised that I have a serious need of getting well. And I must now take the medical advice and do everything within my power to preserve my existence in the most comfortable way possible,” he said. “If others want to continue to throw stones at me that is their choice.” He said he would not comment on the allegations other than to say he “refute them entirely”.
When the allegations were first reported, Jones issued a statement through his lawyers, Mark O’Brien Legal, saying he had “obtained substantial factual information which contradicts and refutes the alleged pattern of conduct”.
