Former Blackburn Rovers striker Alan Shearer was delighted to see Sammie Szmodics on the scoresheet once again
As a former Blackburn Rovers striker, Alan Shearer enjoyed the fact his old club got the better of Leeds United on Saturday lunchtime. Rovers ended Leeds' impressive unbeaten home record with a 1-0 victory, a result that damaged the Whites' automatic promotion hopes after failing to return to winning ways.
Shearer, who won the Premier League title with Blackburn, retains an affection for the club and has previously spoken before about his delight to see the club's top scorer Sammie Szmodics doing so well. It was a sentiment he shared again following the surprise result at Elland Road.
