Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has abandoned spruiking the Indigenous Voice to Parliament on Twitter, with his month-long silence on the upcoming referendum coinciding with several polls suggesting support for the proposed body is in freefall.

Mr Albanese was completely quiet about the Indigenous Voice throughout all of July this year, and only spoke about constitutional recognition in vague terms in a tweet posted on June 30.

This July’s silence is a stark contrast compared to July of last year, when the Prime Minister posted about the Voice to Parliament 15 times within the month. The Prime Minister’s toned-down recent approach to his major policy platform comes as July revealed a major slump in support across several different polling companies.

Newspoll’s July poll had support at just 46.7 per cent, while Resolve had a favourable vote at 48 per cent in the same month.
