The Prime Minister has called a snap national cabinet meeting scheduled for 9am Monday after backlash from state leaders and Labor MPs over the decision to axe the pandemic leave payment and free RATs.
It is understood the Prime Minister has contacted state and territory leaders in relation to the meeting scheduled for 9am Monday.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022.It comes after backlash over the government's decision not to extend the $750 pandemic leave payment for casual workers and free rapid antigen tests for concession card holders as the nation approaches a third Omicron wave.
“Now, if you’re a casual worker and you must spend seven days in isolation you may not have access to any funds at all in response to this disease prognosis. "Without paid pandemic leave hundreds of thousands of working Australians will face an impossible choice – to do the right thing for the community and stay at home, or to keep food on the table and pay their rent," Ms McManus said.
“It’s the elderly who are vulnerable to COVID, it’s the elderly that need these tests to access antivirals.” "There is a change to is a time-limited program that the national cabinet put in place… that would allow pensioners and other concession cardholders to put together a stockpile for their personal use," he told reporters.When asked about the end to pandemic leave payments, Mr Butler said it was a hard decision put in place by the former government but acknowledged it would impact the community.
