Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has finally agreed to convene a national cabinet meeting to address the growing anti-Semitism crisis in Australia, following a series of hate crimes against Jewish communities. The meeting, prompted by the vandalization and arson of a Sydney childcare centre, comes after weeks of pressure from the opposition, Jewish organizations, and the Prime Minister's own anti-Semitism envoy.

After weeks of resisting calls from the Coalition, the peak Jewish body and his own hand-picked anti-Semitism envoy and saying people don’t want “more meetings, they want to see more action” Mr Albanese confirmed he would meet with state and territory leaders on Tuesday evening.
Anti-Semitism envoy Jillian Segal joined those calls last week, saying the Federal Government should coordinate a nationwide crackdown of bail and sentencing laws for hate crimes. Mr Albanese met with the Victorian Premier and NSW acting premier last week, which Ms Segal had welcomed as a “good first step”.
